Book Exchange Rules

THELIB is an IT book exchange platform. Every participant can read other participants' books, upload their own, and share them with friends.

Reading Credits

Every month you receive 5 free credits for reading books. One credit = access to one book for 30 days.

For each uploaded and approved book, you receive +1 credit to your monthly limit.

Example: you uploaded 3 books → your limit: 5 + 3 = 8 books per month.

How to Get Access to a Book

  1. Open the book's page
  2. If you have credits, access will open immediately for 30 days
  3. If you've run out of credits, a request is sent to the book's owner
  4. The owner approves or rejects the request

Uploading Books

  • You can upload a book in the Account → Upload Book section
  • Only PDF format is accepted, size up to 300 MB
  • After uploading, the book goes through moderation
  • An approved book appears in the catalog and earns you a credit

Uniqueness

Each book is unique. ISBN verification — the same book cannot be uploaded twice.

Access Period

  • Access to a book is valid for 30 days from the moment it is opened
  • After the period expires, the book is moved to the "Expired Access" section
  • Access can be obtained again by spending another credit

Downloading books

Downloading books is prohibited. Any downloading of books from the platform is unavailable — to anyone, under any circumstances.

All books are available only for online reading through the built-in reader.

This is done to protect copyright and prevent mass copying.

Invites

If you have uploaded a book, you can invite any user to read it — for free, without spending credits.

How it works

  1. Go to Personal Account → Invites
  2. Select a book and enter the username
  3. The user will get access to reading for 30 days
  4. You can revoke the invite at any time

The number of invites is unlimited — you can invite as many people as you like to read your books.

Ban and violations

If platform rules are violated, the account may be blocked.

What happens when banned

  • All books you have uploaded become part of the system and remain in the catalog
  • General exchange rules apply to these books
  • Access to the account is blocked

Reasons for a ban

  • Uploading content that violates the law
  • Spam and abuse of the system
  • Attempts to bypass restrictions
